Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
Story
It’s just passed 6 years since I was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, I had intense chemotherapy more or less from the day I got took into hospital for 6 months, during that time the good people at Anthony Nolan found me a stem cell donor with a 10/10 match for my cells. Then before my transplant I would receive a round of intense radiotherapy and I would then receive a little bag of cells on my transplant day. I’ve never really thanked them properly for more or less saving my life and giving me a second chance so I thought throughout the month of May I’m going to aim to walk 253KM (just on 6 marathons) I’m going to get some walks in in the Lakes, Wales, some walks in with friends and basically just do massive routes around Liverpool. I know times are incredibly hard for most at the minute but if you can spare a couple of quid your donation will make a lifesaving difference, so please consider donating to this amazing charity.
Here is a little bit of background info on Anthony Nolan. Today, five people will start their search for a stranger to save their life. Anthony Nolan is the charity that makes lifesaving connections between people with blood cancer and incredible strangers ready to donate their stem cells. It costs £40 to add each new potential donor to the Anthony Nolan stem cell register. By supporting my challenge, you could help add new donors to the register, to find more matches for people with blood cancer, and give more people a second chance of life.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
