Story
So where to start? Three years ago I tipped the scales at over 18 stone (that's a whopping 250lbs for my American friends), but then my life changed when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. A complete lifestyle change followed and that included a new found love of exercise. It started with walking and then slowly graduated to running. From being a man who only ever went for a run in the car, I have become a bit addicted and spend most of my time boring the tits off my friends about my latest personal best or, more recently my latest injury!
In the spring I finally took the plunge and, somewhat optimistically, entered the Cambridge Half Marathon which takes place on October 17th. For a while, I have been trying to choose a suitable charity to run for.
Then, in the middle of August, I got the dreadful news that one of my dearest friends had Hodgkins Lymphoma. From that moment there was only one cause that I was running for.
So please support a fat lad trying his best to help the thousands of people who are struck down by this indiscriminate disease. No matter how small your donation, it will be very gratefully received and please don't forget to tick the "Gift Aid" box.
For those that are interested, I do have a target time, but, as I have been a bit lame over the last few weeks, I plan to keep that to myself until I see how sound I am nearer the time!
