The Light The Lakes event sees teams of police officers, staff, retired officers and police friends light up the famous Wainwright fells of Cumbria in memory of colleagues killed.

The phone call from one of my best friends Darren still haunts me, he told me Claire had been run over and was in a bad way, she risked her own life to stop a drug dealing driver travelling at speed towards the Staffordshire 10K family run in September 2018, during the struggle she was run over, dragged along the ground and crushed against a fence. She was eventually pulled to safety by her colleague PC Dave Mullins and had to undergo a five hour operation to save her shattered leg. Things could have been so much worse that day, and we are lucky to have her in our lives.  

I have seen her husband and family go through hell, the courage and strength they have all shown to support Claire on her inspirational recovery is commendable. I am pleased that COPS charity was not required that year and i'm walking with Claire hand in hand to help support her up that fell, with her dodgy knee and I will hug her tight at the top and tell her how much she means to me - please donate a bottle of wine!!
