Story
According to the World Bank, more than half of the world’s extreme poor live in sub-Saharan Africa. The vast majority work in agriculture. Farm Africa reduces poverty in eastern Africa by helping farmers grow more, sell more and sell for more. They work in DR Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda growing agriculture, protecting the environment and developing businesses in rural areas.
I am taking part in this challenge as a team and in memory of someone who first taught me what it meant to be a part of a team, Thomas Krapsho.
My goal is to raise £350 for Farm Africa in Mr. Krapsho's memory. Thomas M. Krapsho, 73, of Harrisburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Tom was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and moved to Harrisburg after earning his Master's Degree from Penn State in 1971. After 37 years of civil service, he retired from the PA State System of Higher Education in 2008, where he was the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Labor Relations. Tom continued to work during his retirement years as an independent arbitrator, having served on both State and Federal panels. He was widely known for his thoughtful and fair consideration of each case before him. When Tom wasn't at the gym or doing a crossword puzzle, you could find him on the softball field, as a player, coach, and #1 fan of Laura, or in the yard and garden with Kelly. In his later years, he spent his time volunteering for Meals-on-Wheels and spoiling his two grandchildren, who always managed to get him to smile big and laugh hard. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann (Chuba) Krapsho; his daughters, Laura Krapsho and Kelly (Sean) Griffin; his grandchildren, Natalie and Thomas Griffin; his brother, Michael (Mary) Krapsho; his sister, Joanne (Robert) Koval; and several nieces and nephews.
