Singer/songwriter MIKA turns 37 on 18th August 2020.

To celebrate the occasion, Mika Fan Club is making a donation to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Mika's name (along with sending him a hand-made gift).

For the past several years, Mika has supported the UNHCR's efforts to protect the rights of refugees and to provide assistance to those who have been forcibly displaced. In December 2015, Mika visited Lebanon to see the plight of Syrian refugees in that country first-hand, and in November 2017 Mika was the featured speaker at a UNHCR fundraising gala in Milan.

The international fan community of Mika Fan Club, which, like the UNHCR transcends country borders, has taken Mika's cause to heart. Over the past several years, the MFC has raised more than €16,000 for UNHCR and worked to increase awareness of the organization's efforts.

As of the end of 2019, an unprecedented 79.5 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide. Among them are nearly 26 million refugees, around half of whom are children under the age of 18. This year, with the global pandemic of the coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19, the work of the UNHCR is more important than ever before. COVID-19 knows no borders, no language barriers. It threatens everyone on this planet, including refugees and other displaced people.

UNHCR is responding to the coronavirus with life-saving support, including water, medical care and hygiene materials. Wherever possible, it boosts public health and hygiene in areas hosting displaced people, including airlifting emergency supplies and establishing isolation units, along with supplying many other forms of aid and support.
