Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. You'll never receive unwanted emails, and your donated money is secure and goes directly to my chosen charity +Gift Aid.
If you're accessing this you probably know who I am and that I am trying to raise money for the the League of Friends for Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath, or the Association of Spina Bifa and Hydrocephalus (http://www.justgiving.com/Mike-Thorne) by running this year's Brighton Marathon. Watching last year's event near my house, I felt this was really something I wanted to be part of. In 1996 I had emergency neurosurgery to treat hydrocephalus at King's (London) and further surgery at Hurstwood Park in 2005 and 2006. I hope I never have to go back, but the support these charities provide is invaluable to a whole spectrum of people, and so I'd like to do what I can looking forwards not backwards ( I must remember this while running!). I like running, though perhaps not his much, but I suppose I'm doing this to prove to myself that I'm not ill, even if I do have a shunt. It was a hard slog, even having done all the required training, but I got round in 4.27, which I'm pleased with and your support was a real motivation, thank you. This page remains open for 3 months after the April 10th event.
