Story
In September of this year I am going to cycle 771 miles in 7 days to raise money and awareness for The Lily Foundation and in memory of my beautiful niece Charlie who sadly lost her battle with mitochondrial disease in March this year.
We were lucky enough to spend 771 days with Charlie and although a relatively short time the impact she had on those people who met her was remarkable. The challenge will start at Le Charlys Lodge in Verbier, Switzerland and will finish at Charlie’s home in Yeovil, Somerset. I will be covering 771 miles in total over the 7 days with an estimated 65,000ft of climbing. It will be a tough endeavour but I will be spurred on all the way by Charlie's beautiful smile and her incredible resilience in the face of her illness.
The Lily Foundation is an amazing charity that offers family style support to those affected by mitochondrial disease. For my brother, Steve, and his wife, Anna, the Lily Foundation gave emotional and practical support as well as their vitally important genetic diagnosis. The charity funds research and treatments which have already made a huge difference to those families affected.
I am asking for your support for the Lily Foundation to allow them to continue to support families and to fund ground breaking research; I will be grateful for every penny donated.
Thankyou
Mike
