We are raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, specifically in support of the Children’s Cancer Centre build, through two fundraising challenges: MineCycle and the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge. MineCycle is an endurance bicycle ride by Paul Freeman and Dom Barraclough, covering over 1,000 miles in 14 days from Aberdeen to Falmouth at the end of May and beginning of June. The route follows Britain’s “mining spine,” from zinc and polyhalite in the north to lithium and tin in the south‑west. With the support of Minerals Matter, the ride includes visits to mining operations, suppliers, schools, and colleges along the way. These conversations aim to inspire young people, develop future skills, and help communities better understand the positive role of UK mining. Alongside MineCycle, we are also taking part in the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge, a cross‑country team event in Derbyshire. Teams of four complete walking, cycling, and kayaking routes together, choosing their own path and collecting points along the way. We’re entering two teams and will be training over the coming months. Both challenges are about teamwork, resilience, and inspiring futures, values that align closely with the purpose of the Children’s Cancer Centre, which will transform cancer care at GOSH and improve the experience and outcomes for children and their families.
