Story

Thank you for visiting my page. My story comes on the back of my four human walking buddies who are raising money for another charity (please visit their site too!!). Their challenge is called ASM180@80. The idea is to bag all the Dartmoor Tors within John's (aka, the Ancient Sub-Mariner) 80th year - they're all pretty old and around that age, so it really is a challenge! As I am also that old in dog years, it'll be quite an achievement if I make it - but the human team have committed to carry me the last few tors if necessary - and I have a couple of younger buddies who will fill my paws if I really can't make it.

The human team have rounded the number of tors to 180, as in 1909 William Crossing's guide listed 183, but a few are on private land where I'm not allowed - so 180 seemed achievable, and gives a better ring to the challenge name! Their fundraising can be found on

www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/ancient-submariner

If successful, we will finish on Yes Tor, the highest of all the tors,  before August 2nd 2021 where I will get a special doggy treat before I get a good rest on my personal arm chair at home.

I am doing this to raise money for my very clever and talented brothers and sisters who change the lives of many people in need of their eyes and senses. Our little, but ageing team, will be fortunate enough to (hopefully) walk this challenge unaided and see the beauty (and sometimes harshness) of beautiful Dartmoor. Please donate a little to support Guide Dogs for the Blind and all the lives they can change.... and lets keep walking!

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
