Mistletoe Zoom 2021 · 10 December 2021

We’re there for people in Sussex and East Surrey, with expert hospice care, when and where they need us most. Our care is only possible thanks to the generosity of our local community who donate to and volunteer with us. Community support means we’re there when life comes full circle.

Story

Every Christmas for nearly 50 years Martyn Wyndham-Read and his friends presented “Maypoles To Mistletoe” at Horsham, Crawley and Guildford, The show is a celebration of the seasons featuring traditional songs, customs, stories and dance and for many it has become an integral part of their Christmas.

In 2019 Guildford Folk Club adapted the show to fit into its club room and last year it adapted its adaptation to fit on to YouTube and renamed it “Mistletoe Garland.

This year the club will be carrying on the tradition by holding a Come All Ye singaround on Zoom. The regular folk club performers will be led once again by Martyn Wyndham-Read but this year they will be joined by most of the singers and performers who have taken part in the monthly Zoom sessions at the club over the past year.

And as usual we will be raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice!

It costs around £10 million a year to run the hospice, giving free care and support to people in Sussex and East Surrey at the most difficult time of their lives.  Only around one third of this comes from NHS grants the rest has to be made up by voluntary donations. As you can imagine this year has been a difficult one and fundraising income has been hit hard so any help you can give will be much appreciated and will make a direct difference to families facing terminal illness. St Catherine’s has never needed our support more. Together, let’s make sure the hospice can continue it's vital work.

Thank you very much for your support.
