Story

Kiaora and thanks for supporting my charity cycle!

Having visited New Zealand and Christchurch twice now I was horrified to see the devastation and loss of life following the large quake and after shocks which hit the city on 22nd February 2011.

Pictures of the cathedral as shown above, other pictures of the impact of the quake on this beautiful city and the effect on the people of Canterbury and New Zealand is heartbreaking. The people living in Christchurch and Canterbury have a long and difficult time ahead recovering what they can and rebuilding their lives. This could take years.

Feeling helpless on the other side of the world I decided to raise some money in my own small way by cycling to work. Not so unusual you might think but I live in Billingshurst and my work base in in Guildford 25 miles away.

So on 7th April I will be cycling to work and back clocking up a total of 50 miles on the day together with my good friend Lorraine Elsden from Billingshurst.

The task of rebuilding Canterbury and the lives of it's people is huge as you can see with the latest TVNZ news.  It would be great if you could sponsor me and help to get the people of Canterbury back on their feet.

All money donated will go to the British Red Cross initially via Justgiving.com and transferred to the New Zealand Red Cross Earthquake Appeal.
