Story
Well where do we start............
My Daughter mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago that she had been sent details through from Ovarian Cancer Action about a 5k Run in Regents Park and thought it would be a good thing for me to do......... I delayed a bit but kept on getting the 'Have you decided yet' question from Bethany and so I have now DECIDED to have a go. Bethany is going to run it with me and no doubt push me on to complete it. (Probably mentally and hopefully not physically.)
So the day before my birthday I will be pounding the ground of Regents Park and running for a very good cause...........
Thats right everything said above is true and am very proud of my mum for even attempting it!!
As many of you will know Ovarian Cancer is a desease that our family has got to know about over the last 18 months. Before Christmas 2007 I did not really have any knowledge about it and certainly did not realise that it was known as the 'Silent Killer'. A lot of the time there are no symtoms so by the time it is diagnosed the cancer is often in the later stages. As a family we feel so lucky (and it was only by chance) that mums was caught in the earlier stages.
Thanks to Ovarian Cancer Action, Ovacome other Gynaecological Cancer Charities Like the Eve Appeal, (You can buy a teapot keyring in Boots to support them) more research is being carried out to know more about this and other types female cancers and raises awareness of the diseases and symptoms.
So this is the reason why Mum and I have decided to do this 5k run,and me the marathon.
I know those of you that know me think that I am going to find a 5km run easy.... so those of you that are sponsoring me and want to get value for your money I am attempting the Edinburgh Marathon on the 31st May to push myself . I am sure for mum 5km will Feel like a marathon so have no fear we will be working hard for all the money raised.
We both Thank You in advance if you feel that you can sponsor us. The money is going to a very good cause and the more we know about this Cancer the more likely women will be able to beat it.
We will let you know how we get on...........
Thank You
Bethany and Molly
