Me and my friends have decided to take on the challenge of running 500 miles (like the song...) for the MS Society! Bellow is some information explaining a bit about MS and why this is so important to me. 

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease which affects approximately 130,000 people throughout the UK. It is a condition that affects your Central Nervous System, mistakenly attacking your nerves. This can have an adverse affect on many parts of your body with some of the symptoms including muscle spasms, numbness and mobility problems. Although there is a constant research effort into finding out more about MS, there is still more work to be done and a cure has not yet been found. 

The MS Society is there to raise awareness of the disease which people are not generally too familiar with, offering advise and support as well as funding research that is ongoing to find a cure for this life changing illness. Although any donations would be massively appreciated, this is not the only way to do your bit. There is a vast amount of information on the MS Society website which I would urge you to go and visit. There is honestly a wealth of information there, and education is just as important as fundraising. 

There is also a far more personal side as to why I want to take on this challenge for the MS Society. My Dad recently received an MS diagnosis, after experiencing some of the typical symptoms. Obviously this has been quite an adjustment for me and the whole family. However, the MS Society has been great in guiding us through the process of receiving the diagnosis, and learning to care for someone living with MS. 

Although there has been a tough adjustment period that still continues, I think that it is important to always stay positive and move forward together. For me this is what this fundraiser represents. Leaning on the support of my friends we are going to try and succeed in the challenge we face. It is crucial that my Dad and everyone else living with MS know that they are not alone and there is so much support out there for them. 

So with this is mind me and my friends are going to run 500 miles and as the song says, "I will run 500 more" until education for MS has been widely spread, and a cure has been found.
