Story
HI,
My name is Fay Sharpe, I am a volunteer for Macmillan and a member of 3M Gorseinon Road Runners.
For the last 6 years, I have run Swansea Bay 10K as Muggy the Macmillan mascot and family & friends have given huge support both as helpers in the actual race and by their generous donations.
This year I have decided that if I am going to ask you to part with your well earned money once again, then I need to "up the anti". To this end, I am taking on the challenge of completing the Cardiff Half Marathon as Muggy - running twice the distance, so I am also hoping to raise twice the amount of money.
This challenge would not be possible without my amazing group of friends known as "The Mugettes". Some of these ladies will run the whole distance alongside Muggy, carrying collecting buckets, acting as Muggy's eyes and ears as I have limited visiibility inside Muggy, engaging with the crowds of spectators and even making sure Muggy has enough fuel and water during the race. The remaining ladies will be situated along the route so that they can relieve their fellow Mugettes of their heavy buckets and replenish them with empty ones - those buckets are hard to carry for even just a few miles once the money starts coming in !!!
Thank you to all of my Mugettes - ladies, you are amazing !!!!
We are hoping to complete our challenge in about 3 hours, but the most important aim is to have lots of fun, soak up the atmosphere and get those buckets as full as we possibly can.
Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that we can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist.
Thank you from Muggy, the Mugettes and all at Macmillan for taking the time to visit my page and hopefully make a donation to our cause. XX
