Hi folks, its a new year which means new goals to help raise funds for the NACC! Let me introduce 'Team NACC-ered': First and foremost there is Calum my son (who is 15.) Calum is the whole reason that 'Team NACC-ered' was formed. He was diagnosed in January 2010 with ulcerative colitis which is a form of inflammatory bowel disease. Next we have Cara my daughter (who is 10) and lead cheerleader. Then we have Dougie my husband (who should know better!) along with Davie a close family friend and Dougie's cycling partner, and finally myself Lorraine (who is not telling!) In 2010 Dougie did the Orange 'Tour de Ben Nevis' endurance race at Fort William in which he raised over £1000. Dougie again took on the challenge in 2011 as well as the 'Ten Under the Ben' 10 hour relay race. Davie was Dougie's relay partner in this event, even Dougie felt 10 hours riding was a bit much! However that brings us on to this year - Dougie is unable to take part in these events this year due to a problem with dates, therefore he has decided to take on the challenge of the 'Keilder 100' on the 15th of September this year. The 'Keilder 100' is exactly what it says, a 100 mile mountain bike endurance race which Dougie is hoping to complete in around 12-14 hours. As well as this event I will be running a 10k in May. Calum has given his Dad great support leading up to and during the events whilst coming to terms with his condition, but now he feels it's time he took on a challenge as well. On June 2nd Calum, Dougie and myself with support from Cara will take part in the Glentress 7 which is a 7 hour relay mountain bike race, just to spice things up a bit Calum and I will ride as a pair and Dougie will ride solo, which will help towards his preparation for the Keilder 100. Well folks thats what we hope to achieve this year, so if you would like to show your support for 'Team NACC-ered' then please donate to this worthy cause.
