Disasters Emergency Committee - Haiti Earthquake Appeal
A devastating earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck Haiti on 12 January 2010, killing thousands and affecting up to three million people.
The earthquake hit the capital Port-au-Prince and nearby areas. It is a densely populated area and the full extent of the devastation is not yet clear. But many have lost family, homes, livelihoods and essential services.
In appalling conditions and with limited resources the Disasters Emergency Committee members and their partners have already started to provide aid.
The sheer scale of this disaster means a huge response is needed. The most urgent needs are search and rescue, hospital care, emergency health, clean water, emergency shelter, logistics and telecommunications.
We would like to coordinate a collective donation to this fund and would ask that you could please give what you can today to help families in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
