Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page it means alot.
As you all may know last year I couldn't run more than 7 minutes without thinking I was having an athsma attack lol so after lots of training (and complaining) i'm hoping to finish the half marathon with a smile on my face all in aid of a great charity!
I have chosen to raise money for Brain Tumour Research as last August my brother Ryan found out he had a brain tumour.
I am extremely happy to say that the tumour was benign and after having it removed he is doing really well.
Some people however are not so lucky, Brain Tumour Research raise funds for research into the prevention and treatment of brain tumours, as well as ultimately finding a cure.
At best an individual diagnosed with a brain tumour will have their tumour removed and their life can resume as normal, albeit scarred both physically and emotionally, at worst an individual diagnosed with a brain tumour will survive only days, weeks or months.
In the majority of cases, patients will undergo intrusive surgery and treatments that will give hope but leave them with side effects.
Many will go on to live with epilepsy, they may lose their driving licence, their jobs and their independence. They deal daily with the emotional and psychological effects that this devastating condition causes.
Partners and parents may have to give up their careers to become part-time, if not full time, carers.
What’s more, whether malignant or benign, both patients and carers are living with a time bomb…
Brain Tumour Research's mission is the following
- Raise at least £7 million per annum to create seven Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK
- Accelerate progress significantly in brain tumour research in the UK in order to make a clinical difference
- Improve the outcomes for brain tumour patients now and in the future
Please Help by giving what you can.
Thanks again for reading
