Story

I am so lucky!  I am 77 and still have my sight thanks to having cataracts removed 15 years ago.

There are many others in this country who are less fortunate and rely on Guide Dogs for the Blind for help to achieve and maintain their independence.  250 people start to lose their sight every day.

I am a Puppy Walker and Treasurer of the Hamble Valley Fundraising Group for Guide Dogs but due to the Covid-19 pandemic we cannot fundraise through street collections or events. Guide Dogs are estimated to lose around 40% of our donated income this year so we are trying to find other ways of raising money to continue our work.

I have decided to join the “100 for Guide Dogs” campaign so I am going to run 100 metres each day for 100 days.  You may be thinking, “only 100 metres day – that’s not much”.  It’s huge for me!  I’m getting old and tired and I haven’t run at all for the last 20 years – not even for a bus! And, who knows, maybe at the end of 100 days I’ll be a sprint champion or running a marathon?

Please help us by donating a little (or a lot) so we can continue to run our services for the blind and visually impaired.
