We provide care in Coventry & Warwickshire to people with a terminal illness aged 18+

Story

Sunday 6 May 2018 sees the first Myton Hospice Charity Game take place at Hawkes Mill Social Club.

Myton’s work centres on enhancing life, empowering patients to achieve their goals and involving them in decisions about their current and future care. By focussing on their wellbeing and seeing them and not their illness they aim to help them reengage with their lives and give them more quality time with their families and loved ones. Last year they supporting over 1,400 patients and their families.

In 2017 Ross Blair was in the care of Myton Hospice after a long battle with a grade 4 brain tumour, during this extremely difficult time it was incredible to see the level of care that Myton’s nurses provided to Ross and his family.

Myton must raise over £9 million per year to carry on providing this outstanding care across their 3 Hospices. As Ross’ friends, we have organised a charity game with Coventry City Former Players Association, on Sunday 6 May. There will be a Myton XI to play a team of Coventry City Legends of yesteryear.

Ross and his family have a strong association with football in Coventry. Ross’ brother Matty Blair is currently playing for Doncaster Rovers in League 1. His dad, Andy Blair, played for Coventry City between 1978-81 before going on to play for the likes of Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday. Ross himself was very much involved with football at an amateur level in Coventry and was an avid Sheffield Wednesday fan.

In addition to the game itself there will be face painting and a bouncy castle for children along with a raffle and other fund-raising activities! Please get in touch using the details below if you’re able to donate any raffle prizes. The BBQ will be on and the bar will be open, no tickets required, we would appreciate a donation of your choice on entrance to the Social club. We would be grateful to anyone that wants to come along, with their families, to support this event and help raise as much as possible for Myton.
