There's a number of varied reasons as to why I've been drawn to this particular cause. I think it's important for empathy, compassion and personal growth, to walk a mile in another's shoes, this sleep out will provide me with real, first hand experience of what it must feel like to be homeless, and to be on the streets with nothing but your own mind as company. 

I spend my evenings with family, reading or chatting to friends, that's a privilege and a luxury. Imagine, if you will, the mental and psychological impact of living on the street, with none of those distractions to comfort or occupy your mind; and that's before we consider the physical vulnerabilities of being on the street. 

This is why charities and groups such as SOS NI are so valuable, they offer support, comfort and much needed respite.
