Story
As another birthday approaches I thought maybe have a party, go away for a relaxing weekend, but alas no...on my actual birthday this year I'm taking part in a half marathon. Having said I would never do one I have decided to sign up for the challenge and taking the bull by the horns training commenced. It's not changed my view that running for 2 hrs is thoroughly boring no matter what music you have! However I decided that I would run for a charity. I decided on The Breck Foundation given their mission to is to educate young people on how to keep safe when using the internet. Through education and awareness they teach young people that their relationships online are not like real life friendships. They do this by sharing the real life story of Breck Bednar, a 14 year old boy from Caterham who was tragically groomed online and lured to his death in February 2014. Breck's mum came to my employment 10mths or so ago to raise awareness of her charity and as a mum myself of 2 soon to be teenage children I was blown away by her determination that something good should come out of something so tragic. Love it or hate it the internet and social media is a major part of our children's lives now and education is key. Anything you can spare to support me in my birthday challenge this year would be much appreciated. Thank you, Natalie.
