Story

Some of you will know that we lost my mother-in-law suddenly last month on the 10 August.

It would have been Anita’s 92nd birthday on 4 October and, to commemorate her life, my daughter Gabrielle decided to take on the challenge of abseiling from Newport’s Transporter Bridge on 3 October* to raise money for St. David’s Hospice Care, a charity close to Nita’s heart that she supported for many years especially since her husband Jim benefited from their care at the end of his life.

"Hospice care offers reassurance of round-the-clock expert care, in a friendly, welcoming environment for those who are living through a life limiting illness. From managing someone's pain, to looking after their emotional, spiritual and social needs, hospice care supports the whole person, helping them to live their life to the full."

Gabrielle’s hope was that some members of the family would join her in this challenge, so I’ve decided to take on the challenge too!

Any donations are welcome for this good cause. Thank you very much for your support!

* Because of covid-19, the abseil has been moved to the 17 April 2021.
