Story
We are so excited to be running The London Landmarks as part of a fantastic team of 25 diverse runners. Our group consists of 5 runners who have learning disabilities alongside friends and family of varying running experiences who are participating in this race to support two very special charities.
The Goed Life, set up by Ned & Laura Goedhuis seeks to support and equip people with learning disabilities with the tools, skills and opportunities needed to find meaningful work by facilitating training and partnering with key employers. It also provides funding for projects, initiatives, supported internships and other charities working for the same cause.
In light of the devastating events in Ukraine, the Goed Life has decided to donate 50% of the funds raised to Inclusion Europe, which supports some of the most vulnerable people - those with learning disabilities - fleeing the country.
Why are we running?
94% of people with learning disabilities are unemployed. We are running to and change this statistic and promote inclusivity. We represent diversity, equality and inclusion and want to show just what men and women with learning disabilities are capable of. Not just running marathons, but how they can be skilled workers and valued members of our communities.
Where will donations go?
All donations will go to the Goed Life charity in Northamptonshire that works to fund training, supported internships and care for men and women with learning disabilities.
We thank you for all of your support – it means the world!
