Many of us sadly know someone 'close to home' who has this dreadful disease.  The grim reality of seeing a friend or relation's mind and health deteriorate in such a devastating way is both shocking and extremely sad.  

In our family this is our Mother - Bridget Horne.  From being the matriarch of the family and the sharpest character you could hope to meet, she is now but a shadow of her former self.  The transformation and degeneration of her wonderfully bright and energetic mind is quite simply tragic.  

We all worry about developing Alzheimer's in years to come and need to do all we can for future generations to find a cure for this appalling disease.
