Story
The cost of building the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is covered. But to make it more than a hospital the Trust Charity have launched the 'We Are Metropolitan' fundraising campaign.
This funding will be used fund play areas for our young patients, creating a beautiful garden where people can sit and reflect, and hiring research nurses who will help to find treatment and cures for illnesses, we can help achieve this.
There will also be an arts and culture programme, which will be supported not just through exhibits, but through summer concerts, plays, stage shows and other examples of the performing arts put on by schools and amateur groups.
As you all know I previously did a 12 hour dance-a-thon to raise funds for charity and this has led to #dance4wellbeing, which over the last 10 months has led to a regular dance routine to maintain the health and wellbeing of our staff who have worked so hard during the pandemic.
This year I am going to do the Zipwire event (even though I am absolutely terrifed of going to those heights) to help raise funds as I am passionate that the new hospital is #morethanahospital. On the 27th March 2022, I will be descending 220 metres on a zip line from the Midland Met itself. I will reach speeds of up to 35mph whilst (hopefully) enjoying the view, as long as my eyes are not shut! Every single penny you donate will go towards making Midland Met #morethanahospital.
I am keen on being part of the charity's plan to enhance the experience of all people using our services; from patients and their families to the staff themselves, providing additional facilities and supporting innovative projects that create a comfortable and secure environment.
It has been a crazy year for all and it would be fabulous to see the new hospital opened with a wealth of benefits that focus on health and wellbeing, not just illness. I am particulary excited about the arts and culture programme that will supporting and showcasing the talents in our local communities.
