Alcohol misuse directly causes one death every hour in England.  It also indirectly causes a further three deaths an hour.  Many people a week come to our Hospital as a result of alcohol abuse.  Raising awareness of the problems that alcohol misuse causes and recognising that as a Nation we should no longer view alcohol misuse as acceptable, are my hopes for promoting dry January.   

The Poole Hospital, Alcohol Care and Treatment Services (ACTS) is a hospital led multi-agency, multi-disciplinary team with a Trust wide role. We have a fantastic team of enthusiastic nurses, counsellors and healthcare workers providing support, detoxification care, relapse prevention and social care.  Equipping this team with the skills to offer a comprehensive holistic service requires training and monies raised by sponsoring me through dry January will be used for this purpose..
