Story

I'm fundraising for the LION hand unit to support people in Malawi affected by traumatic hand injuries - will you help me?

Thousands of people in Malawi receive traumatic and life changing hand injuries on the roads of Malawi each year. The LION project provides free trauma treatment and surgery that will transform people's lives and enable them to earn a living and provide for their family.

In May 2023 I will be travelling out to Malawi to volunteer as a hand therapist for 6 weeks. During my time in Malawi I will be both working clinically providing hand rehabilitation and participating in a structured teaching programme. The aim is for LION to be self sufficient in the provision of specialist hand services by the end of the project.

On the 12th February 2023 we will be completing a winter challenge across Dartmoor over two days, hiking 30 miles, climbing 10 tors and embracing 5 icy swims.

Anything you can give towards this sustainable project to help the Malawian people who have been affected by hand trauma will be greatly received.
