Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I'm running 100km in April, on my own, not as part of an organised thing. (I don't like organised things!) I'm doing it for Hospice UK. Here's why.
Because I can (I hope!) and my younger sister can't. Jo died of an incurable lung cancer in August 2019, five months after diagnosis. Jo had never smoked anything and she was fitter, faster and better than me at running and anything involving physical discomfort.
I started running in 2018 and I've run three times a week since then, anything between 5 and 10km (usually nearer 5...). I do it for my brain and heart health. I admit I rarely enjoy it at the time but I love having done it. And the downhill stretch on the way home!
I've never done any kind of sponsored run but I've decided to do this because I want to raise money for hospices in the UK. Jo had the most amazing care in St Luke's hospice in Sheffield and it's a charity that needs and deserves all our help. I will never forget the kindness, the care, the support that St Luke's gave Jo and our family.
100k in 30 days from April 1st will definitely be HARD - no room for any niggles or injuries. I'll keep a record.
