I am delighted to say that this Summer I will be volunteering for 4 weeks with Friends Of Africa in Sesobe, South Africa.  Being a student teacher, it is no surprise that working with children is a passion of mine.  Therefore, being given the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children living in extreme poverty is something I am extremely grateful for.

Friends Of Africa promotes sustainability and hopes to make a real difference through partnerships with organisations in Africa, as well as the good will of volunteers and donations from back home. Whilst we alone, cannot solve the problems faced in Africa, what we can do is tackle the issues at the grassroots level. Our small steps together, make a big difference.

A few of the projects myself and other volunteers will be working on are:

• Building and renovation projects.
• Tlowkweng Summer Camp.
• Lesadi Parish Youth Encounter Spirit Retreat and Summer Camp.
• Vleeschfontein Pilgrimage and Siza squatter camp.
• Chipulukusu Primary School.
• TYCS Camp, Mwandoya. 
• NGUDU Summer camp.
• St Anthony's Orphanage.
• Friends Of The Street Children Shelter, Kwama.

In order to fund the project I have to raise £3,000 for the charity.  The money goes directly towards the projects myself and other volunteers will be working on whilst in Africa.  Flights, injections etc will be covered by my own money.  Any donation, no matter how big or small is much appreciated.
