Story

So as some of you may remember I embarked on a life changing adventure in June 2018 climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Before I set out I imagined it to be a life changing journey but it was that and more – it gave me a new perspective on life and returning from the journey left me craving for more adventure and wanting to do more to help those in need. It gave me the opportunity to reflect and realise how fortunate we are. We have access to good healthcare, food, clothing, sanitation and a roof over our head and family and friends who enhance our lives. However there are so many people around the world who aren’t as lucky as we are to have this and so this year I have decided to take on the Peru Trek with Penny Appeal fundraising for Penny Appeal’s Emergency Response programmes.

This trek will be a test of endurance and take me out of my comfort zone as we take on this 10-day trip, which will give us the chance to experience some of the most dramatic mountainous landscapes on Earth. It will take us from high remote mountain trails climbing upto 4600m to traditional Adean villages and Incan ruins including one of the 7 wonders of the world; the legendary Lost City of the Incas - Machu Picchu! It is sure to be an experience that stays with me forever and the money we raise will continue to help those in desperate need of help!

About Penny Appeal’s Emergency Response

The Emergency Response initiative operates on the ground in five counties, but also provides life-saving aid to refugees who have fled to other countries. They currently work in Syria, Bangladesh, Gaza, Yemen, and Indonesia, providing emergency humanitarian aid to both victims of extreme violence and those who have been forced to flee their homes. While each country suffers its own diverse range of distinct issues, poverty and the desperate need for food, water, and medical aid are common factors and Penny Appeal teams are working tirelessly to provide support in as many areas as possible. Penny Appeal need your support to be able to continue deploying life-saving medical aid, food, clothing, sanitation and shelter to those who've been left incredibly vulnerable.

Thanks for taking the time to read about what the adventure will involve and who it would help. Your support is greatly appreciated, so please donate as much or as little as you can. Donations are zakat eligible - please make a note of this in the comments.
