Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving Page
Well here we go again on another Camino and raising money for a very worthwhile cause - Matt Carapiet Charitable Trust . Pammi & I (with friends Angela & Vinod) will walk 150km from Porto to Vigo and then go to Santiago de Compostela. We start on 28th September and will keep you updated!
The money raised from last year’s sponsored walk (We have uploaded a few photos here ) helped to pay the nurse’s salary in Langtang. This year the Trust have supplemented the salaries of 2 health workers who have replaced the nurse. They plan to continue this support and also to extend the medical centre up to Kyangjen Gompa, higher up the mountain. The Trust are also organising the building of a new dental facility in Langtang. We are very very proud to be supporting a Trust in Matt's name and hope you will support us. Nepal's people and Langtang Village are trying to rebuild their lives and 4 years on still need our help. No donation is too small!
On 25th April 2015, Matthew Carapiet tragically lost his life whilst trekking in Langtang, Nepal. He was one of many thousands who died that day when an earthquake devastated the country. Matthew - who was a talented architecture student from Maidstone - was backpacking across Asia and China as part of his gap year. His family have set up the Matt Carapiet Charitable Trust in his name, and are raising money to support projects in Nepal and in Cambodia where Matthew had given his time to volunteer during his travels.
