Big C is a local, Norfolk based charity who provide support to anyone affected by cancer at any stage, from diagnosis and treatment, to life Beyond cancer.

During my years of working as a district nurse in North Norfolk, a big part of my role was caring for patients at the end of their life. I often signposted them and their families to Big C For support and advice. I always received great feedback Stating how much they had benefitted from the contact they had with Big C.

In October 2019, at the age of 46, I received the shocking and devastating diagnosis that I had breast cancer. Over the Subsequent months I had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During this time, I reached out to Big C and witnessed first hand what an amazing charity it is. Not only offering me emotional support, they also kindly helped me with wig fitting and a confidence boosting makeup afternoon. Big C truly made a positive difference to how I coped with my cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Fortunately I am now fully recovered and remain cancer free, allowing me to do what I truly love - running.

By Big C giving me the opportunity to run the London marathon, will not only fulfil a life long dream, but also enable me to raise money for a truly amazing charity. I get to prove to myself, that with hard work and determination, I can still achieve big ambitions after my cancer diagnosis, and maybe even help and give inspiration to someone else.

Since 1980 Big C has been dedicated to the fight against cancer and today we help the thousands of people affected, across our county, while working to improve future outcomes. Our work focuses on four key areas - supporting people affected by cancer, funding world-class local research into cancer, providing vital medical equipment and facilities in the county's main hospitals and educating local people about cancer for the future.
