Story

Nola to Angola is an annual 170-mile bicycle ride fundraiser. At the end of October, a small group of friends will bike from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and back over the course of two days. Special thanks to Front Yard Bikes for being a team sponsor.

We support families who are victims of an injustice system, particularly those with loved ones in Angola.

Angola - a former plantation named for the country where people were taken from to be forced into slavery.
Angola - where imprisoned people ride bulls to entertain audiences.
Angola - where the majority of the imprisoned population is Black.
Angola - where someone is serving a life-sentence for selling $20 of marijuana
Angola - where “good prisoners” are referred to as “house boys.”
Nola to Angola
Ask yourself why Louisiana is the NUMBER ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD incarcerating people (Warning: it is not a easy story to digest: https://www.npr.org/.../how-louisiana-became-the-worlds...)

You can follow our progress towards completing our 180+ mile ride on this page. After reaching our initial goal of $1200, to fund an entire charter bus for family visitations, we are now committing to raising $3000!

Funds raised will support the long-term viability and expansion of the Cornerstone Builders Bus Project, which provides free transportation for people to visit their incarcerated loved ones. Nola to Angola remains entirely volunteer-run.
