Norton Place Walk Exmouth to Topsham · 25 May 2018
Norton Place is an independent living development of flats and bungalows for adults with a learning disability.
In 2008 we had an Open Day set up to raise money for Devon Air Ambulance Trust as our nominated charity for the year. We managed to raise £250 due to an auction of goods very generously donated by Devon based businesses.
This year we have chosen Devon Air Ambulance Trust again and hope to match the figure we raised in 2008.
The walk from Exmouth to Topsham will be about 7 miles and it is a significant challenge for us as some of us have leg issues and injury. We have rented 2 affordable wheelchairs from British Red Cross in case some struggle.
Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) owns 2 helicopters and operates 7 days a week; in autumn 2016 DAAT extended the flying hours until midnight. Responding to approximately 1,400 incidents every year DAAT conveys patients to the specialist treatment centre most appropriate for their needs, giving them the best chance of survival. The service costs £5.5 million every year and DAAT is proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery funding, relying solely on the generous donations of the people, businesses and communities of Devon.
