Our story!
On Saturday 1st August we took part in our first ever Olympic Team Triathlon... read on for the result!
As novices it took us a little while to orientate ourselves at the world's biggest triathlon event and so by the time we found out where our transitions would take place (hand over from swim to bike and bike to run), and got our free goody bags full of tea bags and fabric softener, it was time for the race to begin.
Gregg, despite a few elbows in the face, got the team off to a flying start in the 1500m swim, and more importantly avoided the automatic disqualification that would have accompanied any nudity in the transition area. Alex then managed to get round the 40km cycle route, before treating the crowds to a truly classy dismount into the transition area, which may have looked like someone falling off their bike. Finally it was down to Verena to avoid the distractions of some fairly lacklustre dancing that was going on, and bring the team home over the 10km run, and into 9th place in the Corporate Olympic Team Challenge, completing the course in a highly respectable total time of 2:36:37.
As you can see from the pictures we had a really great time, and are now considering what challenge to take on next!
