For the last 10years I have been a nurse and nursing in orthopaedic, plastics vascular surgery and most recently major trauma. I have witnessed and worked in many horrific situations and harrowing for both staff and patients. But most importantly the level of dedication and professionalism from nurses under pressure has been second to none. Despite what people hear in the media and amongst the brexit debate there are still nurses working long hours and holding patients hands as they pass away. They are busy studying at universities to better their knowledge to be able to provide a high quality of care for their patients despite facing daily abuse and poor working conditions. 

Through nursing I have met many good folk but my friend Chris, whilst working and studying is running a charity called Eating Stones. Through this he and others that I have worked with are running and supporting a Nurse Training programme in rural Kenya. Where none of the patients receive the brilliant care we do here in the uk! And  in which everyone should have someone to hold their hand in their final days.

Eating Stones Fund  aiming to relieve poverty and sickness in urban and rural Kenya, through education and access to effective and holistic healthcare. 
Eating Stones Fund offer student nurses, in rural Kenya, assistance with their educational costs in cases where they wouldn't otherwise be able to complete their training. It costs approximately £3,500 to train a Nurse in Kenya. With over a decade of experience working with children and vulnerable people in Kenya, Eating Stones Fund wants to continue to help train as many nurses as possible, with the knowledge that healthy people leads to healthy communities. 

To me on a personal level is really important and worth supporting anyone who wants to become a nurse and spend a lifetime caring for others! 

I am supporting Eating stones by walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks on the 27th of April 2019.
