Eight years ago (to this day) I asked people to sponsor me in the Race for Life; something I chose to do for little reason other than to shift some Easter weight and raise money for a cause that felt important, albeit quite distant to me. Four weeks ago (to this day) my Mum died of pancreatic cancer, making it all a lot less abstract.

My Mum was definitely not known for her love of exercise. But, fortunately, her beloved four-legged friend (our dog, Nutmeg) is more that way inclined. Nuts has been doing her bit to get us through this incredibly shit time; taking us on walks, keeping the floors clean, patrolling the garden. But she really wants to do something that plays to her talents. So, this July, Nuts will be animatedly running the Race for Life (with me as chaperone, to avoid any untoward incidents) in honour of my Mum.

Any sponsorship towards helping those paws cross the 5K terrain would be much, much appreciated. She does refuse to wear pink though.
