Story
Hola!
I'm the very proud father of 2 energetic, loud, feisty, impatient little divas. I won't lie, I shit myself when our first arrived. She weighed just over 3 pounds, had translucent skin, and was battered and bruised (her small size made labour difficult). Our second was a bit easier, but not much. Both spent the first month/s of their life in the Neonatal Unit at Jessops Hospital.
To give something back, I'm running the Sheffield Half Marathon in April. My extensive fitness CV is below:
- Broke 3 toes and my metatarsal during a 5-a-side footie match in 2011. Lost the game.
- Sprained my right ankle 3 times. Twice playing football, and once falling off a curb pretending to be a Ghostbuster (intoxicated).
- Fractured my right elbow crashing into a wall when I was 7 on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bike.
- Physique resembles that of a darts player rather than a long distance runner.
- Only started running again about 4 weeks ago, after a 5 year break.
- Not run more than 10 miles in 5 years.
- Ran 9 miles 2 weeks ago. Couldn't walk for 4 days and my knee now makes a nice grating noise.
As you can see I'm in peak physical fitness for the task ahead. Your money is safe with me.
The Reality
An estimated 1 in 10 babies are born premature each year. Of those, approximately 1 million children die each year due to complications of preterm birth. Both my girls were lucky. Many aren't.
Dig deep and give generously. It's for a good thing x
