Half marathon for GOSH!

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2021 · 10 October 2021 ·
A few weeks after his birth, my gorgeous nephew Henry was referred to GOSH with Multi Sutural Craniosynostosis.
This is a rare condition affecting 1/2,500 babies where one or more skull sutures fuse too early in the womb. Early fusing can cause intercranial pressure and can restrict the growth of the brain which may lead to vision problems, learning difficulties and other complications, if left untreated.
Last week Henry underwent spring assisted surgery to help re shape his skull. The operation lasted 4 hours and was a successful. It was the hardest week of our lives but he is doing amazingly!
He will undergo another operation just before his first birthday to have the springs removed. We are keeping everything crossed that he won’t require any further surgery down the line.
We feel completely indebted to the surgeons, consultants, nurses and support staff at GOSH and Koala Ward who looked after Henry, Charlotte and Dan so well and continue to do so.
They are absolute superheroes and we want to show our appreciation for their amazing work!
