Story

Thanks for checking out my story🤪

Whilst in lockdown I decided to take on a challenge! This summer I will be heading to Tanzania to complete a 7 day trek up Mt Kilimanjaro.

The original trek date was set for two years ago but was postponed due to covid. However, I will finally be heading off on my trek this month!

Why?

My brother Ed was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was 4 years old. He is amazing and my inspiration for taking on this challenge!

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder where muscles progressively weaken, due to an absence of the muscle protein dystrophin. DMD also affects the heart and lung muscles.

Although there is not yet a cure for DMD, promising research into gene therapy and human clinical trials have begun. And so, it’s hugely important to raise awareness of MD UK, and to raise money to fund new research, provide people with innovative technologies  and access to new treatments, as well as welfare support and specialist healthcare. MDUK aims to develop effective treatments and cures for all muscle wasting conditions, not just DMD, which is why it is essential to support such an incredible charity.

Thanks for checking out my page, I hope you will support me in my challenge and support Muscular Dystrophy UK!❤️❤️❤️
