Anorexia & Bulimia Care (ABC) helps thousands of people every year struggling with eating disorders. They provide vital support services to those suffering themselves, and also to their family and friends. Due to Coronavirus, calls to ABC's helpline have increased by 20% since March, and call duration has also increased by 42%. Those with eating disorders are particularly vulnerable both in terms of their physical and mental health. Self-isolation can have a detrimental effect on all of us, but especially so on those with eating disorders. Media coverage of food availability issues can influence eating disorder behaviours such as food restriction or bingeing. Now more than ever, the support ABC provides is critical.
