Me and my husband are wanting to complete this rather mammoth walk in honour of two of the main ladies in my life, one being my beaut of a mum, who are currently battling with the c word, but also in memory of another who we sadly lost last summer.

As most of you know we lost our wonderful Nan in July last year to cancer. She was our absolute rock and has carried us through some really tough times so the thought of losing her and the reality that followed goes beyond any words I can ever write....and this is where St. Catherine's Hospice comes in.

I had only ever heard of them until last year, didn't even know much about a hospice let alone ever imagine seeing myself go near or inside one, but now it's a place that will always be close to my heart.

The whole time Nan was there they fully supported us all as a family and allowed us to be with her as much as we wanted. No request was ever too much -they even held another wedding party by her bedside so she could see my beaut of a cousin in her wedding dress- one of her final goals.

We were extremely lucky that we could stay with her day and night but the sad reality is that not everyone will have the same experience we had due to the limited space available- and this is where the fundraising comes in!

With plans of a new hospice, more families will be able to benefit from the incredible care and support they provide- so every penny really does count!!
