Tackle youth homelessness in Birmingham
On Sunday 12 May I'm going to be cycling 100 miles in the Birmingham Velo and then on 4 June i'll be taking part in the LandAid 10k run in Regent's park. I want to use this as an opportunity to raise funds for Landaid.
I've been working as a LandAid Midlands ambassador for the last two years and have been able to witness some of the great projects that the charity is working on in the city to tackle youth homelessness in Birmingham. In particular going to see the sheltered accommodation that Landaid supports in Small Heath showed how vital it is that they are able to continue to give young people a home and support for a better future.
It's shocking to think that around 80,000 young people are currently homeless in the UK. Now, more than ever, they need your support.
By donating you can help them to protect young people on the streets, provide accommodation and training and tackle the root causes of homelessness.
Somefurther background on the charity:
LandAid is the property industry charity working to end youth homelessness in the UK.
We bring together businesses and individuals from across the industry to support charities delivering life-changing projects for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness.
As a charitable trust, we award grants to exceptional charities in the UK who are working to tackle youth homelessness. Our grants are invested in capital projects which provide much-needed homes for young people.
We also provide free professional property expertise and know-how to our charity partners through our successful pro bono programme.
Our key aims are:
To provide accommodation and support for young people who have been homeless
To profile youth homelessness within the property industry, especially where we can offer young people a platform to have their voices heard
