On Sunday I will be doing the London Marathon again. It remains my favourite race due to the incredible crowd support and will be my 11th one. Should I get round in a time that would suggest that I have put in sufficient effort (sub 3 if it is normal weather and maybe a bit slower if it is very hot), do feel free to sponsor me. As I am becoming increasingly decrepit and injury prone I prefer sponsorship after the race just in case my body gives in. There is a London Marathon 2018 app for those wanting to track runners. My number is 32038.
I do not ask for sponsorship every year as I do not wish to be one of those people one has to avoid every April but I do feel that our local charity that the school and many parents support 'Little Village' is a most worthwhile one and one that I am keen to run for. The disparities in wealth in Camden are great and the charity aims to help those children who have little say in the circumstances in which they live.
Little Village is a registered charity and works like a food bank but for clothes, toys, equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. Since January 2017 they have helped over 820 children living below the poverty line in Camden, providing them with everything from cots to socks and have 64 local referral partners (all the major childrens centres, hospitals and council services in the borough.) They have become a real force for good in the local area, as you can see on their facebookpage: https://www.facebook.com/groups/littlevillagecamden/.
Not only does the charity promote sustainable living, but it has become a way of enabling families to support each other in a simple, but very tangible and powerful way.
