Story
Little Village is a registered charity and works like a foodbank but for clothes, toys, equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5.
Since January 2017 we have helped nearly 1000 children living below the poverty line in Camden, providing them with everything from cots to socks and have 64 local referral partners (all the major children’s centres, hospitals and council services in the borough.) Not only does our charity promote sustainable living, but it has become a way of enabling families to support each other in a simple, but very tangible and powerful way.
Everything is donated by local families and given to local families with children under 5 years old, who can’t afford to buy it. All the families that benefit from our service have been assessed as ‘at risk’ or ‘in need’ by our referral partners - professionals such as health visitors, children’s centres, midwives, GPs and also organisations like food banks.
Although we are almost entirely volunteer run, we do have some running costs such as rent, van hire, training, marketing and also buying those items that we are not able to give out second hand such as mattresses, bottle teats, nappies and underwear.
Please help us support local families living in poverty in Camden, by giving generously. Just £10 could help us buy a child a moses basket mattress, 2 packs of underwear or an hour’s van hire. Thank you.
