Story
My much loved father Stephen Troughton-Smith who died on 1 January 2012, had prostate cancer from 1994. He had been a supporter of St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing for many years. He didn't in the end use its wonderful caring environment as he chose to stay in the nursing home to be with my mother, where she remains.
I want to carry on the support he used to give. Please help me and St Barnabas in his memory?
To focus my campaign I've signed up to walk the Inca Trail Trek, the 52 km from K82 to Aguas Calientes via Macchu Pichu, in May 2012 with a group of other St Barnabas supporters. This is going to be a mammoth effort for me as I've never been an athlete. I will have to work really hard at getting fit for this high altitude, demanding, trail. We are now doing walks together at weekends which is great, but I will have to knuckle down in the gym during the week as well - it's harder at 70 years old!
Rest assured that I'm paying all the costs myself, so everything you give will go purely to St Barnabas Hospices. The organisation includes Chestnut Tree House, for children with life-limiting diseases, as well as the adult hospice. They are fantastic places and need all the money we can raise.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate any amount, now? Thank you so much from me and the patients at St Barnabas. Your generosity is vital to this worthy cause which charges nothing to its patients and is almost entirely funded from donations.
