As Captain of Fulford Golf Club, I have the honour of choosing the charity that the club will support this year.  I have been to many Dreamflight events and have witnessed first-hand the impact their work makes to disabled and poorly children.  I have been delighted to see how many who have gone on and succeeded in later life have said it was Dreamflight that gave them the opportunity and motivation to do so

Each October, Dreamflight takes a plane-full of amazing children
for a holiday of a lifetime.  The Charity hires a 747 aircraft and takes
192 children from across the UK, with a serious illness or disability, to
Florida.  Parents are not allowed, but instead a huge volunteer team of
doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other helpers look after the children for 10 days.  Dreamflight is not just a holiday; it does something that medicine can't. The children get the opportunity to discover independence, confidence, and a whole new outlook on life. Often for the first time, they realise that they are not the odd one out. They see children around them who have also suffered; they gain perspective, and experience things that they never thought possible.

I am hoping to get a team of 20 athletes...OK, golfers... each to play 4 rounds of golf in 1 day at Fulford Golf Club in York!  We will start around 5am and finish around 10pm and walk between 26 and 28 miles depending on how bad we are at golf!

It costs £3,500 to send each child on the holiday of a lifetime, if we can all raise £500 we will have just about enough to send 3 children
