Nobody should face oppression in their lives. Yet throughout the world millions of people face discrimination, rejection, attack and even murder because of their beliefs. Whilst we may struggle to believe this, 1 in 8 Christians suffer in this way because they follow Jesus.

On 12 September I will have a fantastic opportunity to run in the Great North Run to raise money to bring vital food and aid to those who need it the most. Open Doors is an organisation that lobbies for rights of those who are persecuted and provide practical and spiritual aid to many who live their lives under the oppression of those who hate them.

I've been inspired by good friends who have fled their homeland for their lives. Yet they are praying for family back home to stand firm, show love and grace, and resist the urge to retaliate. 

My hope and prayer is that a run for me can help some peace to many who need it. After all, Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
