Story

My amazing pals Lynne and Ryan are going through absolute hell!!

Their families lives were turned upside down when their eldest daughter Riley became extremely unwell over the Christmas 2022. They were absolutely devastated when Riley was diagnosed with Leukaemia in February 23'.

In April this year their youngest daughter, Georgie, who after suffering from similar symptoms to her big sister for around a month, was also diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Around 50 children a year in Scotland get childhood leukaemia and it is very unusual for siblings to both be diagnosed.

The girls difficult journey includes intense chemotherapy and steroid treatment, oral chemotherapy, regular blood count checks, along with many blood and platelets transfusions, regular trips to theatre and dealing with all the horrible side effects of treatments and neutropenia.

Lynne and Ryan are absolutely devastated that they have to watch their two young daughters go through all of this at such a young age. Yet as difficult as it is they remain optimistic the girls will live a full and happy lives once they come through the other side of this. I am incredibly proud of them both and wish this could all be taken away from them!❤️

When my colleagues announced the idea of doing the kilt walk and asked for suggestions for charities I put forward what Lynne and Ryan were going through. The wonderful team agreed that this was what we should be doing with our fundraising efforts and we thought the best way to choose the right charity was to let Lynne and Ryan choose - they have been helped by really amazing ones!

I am extremely grateful to the team and I am looking forward to raising the money and taking on the challenge itself with a brilliant bunch of people! My husband Graham is also joining us to take on the challenge and support the fund raising efforts…he has also agreed that he will shave his head if we reach £3000 as a team, let’s do this!!!!!

Any donation would be grately appreciated 🫶 xxxx

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
