Paul Blanchard 1964 - 2016

We are all reeling from the unexpected and sad death of our friend, colleague, osteopath and tutor, Paul Blanchard who passed away on 5 May 2016. 

Paul and I were friends for many years, as well as colleagues at the British School of Osteopathy (BSO). I know everyone here is in shock at the moment, and that he will be missed by staff, students, alumni and patients alike. 

Paul began work at the BSO in 1988, and in those 28 years he contributed such a wealth of knowledge and experience to osteopathy. As the founder and driving force behind the BSO’s first clinics for people with HIV in 2001, Paul had a deep interest in the musculoskeletal effects of HIV infection and the osteopathic care of people with HIV. 

So many patients benefit every year from his foresight in establishing the Chapman clinic and the clinic held at the Ian Charleson Day Centre, in the Royal Free Hospital. His research and publications around the way that osteopathy can help people living with HIV infection have helped the entire profession to develop. 

As his friend and colleague, I know how important these clinics were to him, and I'm so pleased that Paul's mother and closest friends want to remember him through setting up this donation page to a cause so close to his heart.
